Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007 at St. John's Abbey Church in Collegeville, MN for Carol Koltes, age 50, who passed away Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with diabetes.
Burial will be in the Seven Dolars Parish Cemetery, Albany, MN. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the St. John's Parish Center (Fruit Farm Road) and from 8 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Abbey Baptistery, Collegeville. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Parish Center. Arrangements are with the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN.
Carol was born in St. Cloud, MN to Andrew and Frances (Reisinger) Merdan. She married Lawrence "Larry" Koltes on October 18, 1975 in St. John the Baptist Church, Collegeville, MN. Carol loved working as an Education Assistant for Avon grade school, sewing clothes for her children, helping build her family home on Fruit Farm Road and being a Foster Mom for 9 years. She was an excellent wife, mom, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is a member of St. John the Baptist Parish and Marriage Encounter.
Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Larry; children, Angie (Matt) Carey of Denver, CO, Missy (Jason) Kurkosky of Kimball and Shannon Koltes (fianceƩ, Kory McClelland) of Waite Park; grandchildren, Ashley Koltes and Travis Kurkosky; siblings, Charles (Sandy) Merdan of Avon, Lillian Edelbrock of Sauk Rapids, Betty (George) Lipinski of Hewitt, Judy (Edward) Koska of Lakeshore, Marlene Thielman of Little Falls, Leonard (Janet) Merdan of Albany, Annella (Roger) Bechtold of Jacobs Prairie, Marita (Donald) Schwinghammer of Cold Spring, Imelda (Donald) Allen of St. Cloud, and Robert (Kay) Merdan of St. Joseph; mother-in-law, Ione Koltes of St. Joseph; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amy (1980); father-in-law, Joseph Koltes; sister-in-law, Laurie Koltes-Pease; niece, Olivia Goulet.
